Extension: Dialstone Lane Hospital, Stockport
Also known as Stockport Infectious Diseases Hospital (c.1880 - 1948). The original buildings were erected about 1877-1880 at a cost of £44,635. (MEN 9 March 1904 p3). Various extensions and additions were contemplated in the early years of the twentieth century, including an Observation Block of eight beds, with plans by the Stockport Borough Engineer (1903-1908) and further extensions designed by James Jepson (1911-1914). After 1958 the northern and central buildings of the original hospital were demolished. Now named Cherry Tree Hospital, the hospital finally closed on 12 February 2010 and the site cleared for housing.
