Eight Model Cottages Knutsford
TO ARCHITECTS AND BUILDERS - The Knutsford Freeholders' Building Committee are Prepared to RECEIVE PLANS of EIGHT MODEL COTTAGES for the working class, to be two storeys high, have three rooms on each floor and the requisite out offices; cost of completing each not to exceed £100. Plans to be sent to Mr William Nicholls, butcher, Knutsford, on or before the 8th February next. £5 will be allowed for the plan selected and those not approved will be returned.

As a result of the competition Sherwin was selected as architect. By the end of March tenders were sought for the building work, the results being published in the Builder of 9 April 1870, being £95 per cottage, including grates fittings etc., and outbuildings. (Competition cost limit £100)
