The largest cotton mill, with the twin linked blocks holding 221,520 spindles. This was one of the first buildings to be roofed with asbestos cement tiles. Known as “Trafford Tiles” these were manufactured by Turner brothers who had opened their factory in Trafford Park, Manchester in 1913. (Hudson: Building Materials Page 85)
