DULWICH BATHS - The Commissioners of Public Baths for Camberwell have accepted the report of the assessor in this competition, Mr. Charles Barry, who has recommended the design submitted by Messrs. Spalding & Cross. [Builder 19 July 1890 page 47]
Construction started on the baths in 1891 but work was delayed for various reasons, including a union dispute over the quality of lime used in the foundations in September of that year. The Baths opened to the public on 25 June 1892. Charges were 6d for the first-class pool ab 2d for the second-class pool. The basic charge remained at 6d until 1957.
