NEW DRILL SHED FOR THE VOLUNTEERS -The building formerly occupied as a weaving shed at Rose-street, Todmorden, has been transformed into a drill hall for the volunteers of the Todmorden (G) Company. It is very centrally situated, and presents an attractive and inviting appearance. There is a large main entrance, which will admit the volunteers in full marching order, and the drill-hall covers an area of about 600 square yards. The drill-instructor has also a house at one end of the shed, and it forms a most desirable residence. Major Hill, of the Royal Engineers, has paid a visit to the new armoury, and he was very favourably impressed with the whole of the arrangements. The contractors have all been local firms, and the architect has been Mr Jesse Horsfall, of Todmorden and Rochdale. [Burnley Express 21 May 1887 page 7]
