WIGAN - A large drill-hall was recently opened in Powell-street, Wigan, by the Earl of Cranford and Balcarres, Lient.-Col. 4th L.R.V. His lordship, in his address, congratulated the Wigan Volunteers on now possessing one of the finest drill-halls in the country. The cost has been £3,300. Messrs Isitt and Verity, of Bradford and Wigan, were the architects. [Builder 24 January 1885 page 152]
