DISTRICT PROVIDENT SOCIETY CONVALESCENT HOME, SOUTHPORT. - The illustration shows the extension to the existing home, Lord-street West. The style and character of the new wing have been to a certain extent modelled in harmony with the prior erection. The extension consists mainly in accommodation for women, in dining hall, kitchen, laundry, offices, and bedrooms. ...The kitchen, scullery, pantry, &c., will be lined with glazed bricks. The dining hall will have a wooden dado, and the walls above will be in buff and red bands of brickwork. The heating will be by steam. The contractors are Messrs. Neill and Sons, Manchester, and the architects Messrs. Heathcote and Rawle, of the same city. [Building News 15 June 1888 page 838].
