SCHOOL EXTENSIONS DAVENPORT ROAD - WORK FOR DERBY FIRM - Trustees of Davenport-road Wesleyan Church, Derby, have decided to accept the tender of Mr. Alfred Smith, Empress Road, to build Sunday school extensions at the church. The estimated cost is £3,950, and the new buildings will accommodate 350 children. Messrs  Brocklehurst, of Manchester, are the architects. [Derby Daily Telegraph 23 February 1931 page 9]

DERBY WESLEYANS' NEW £4,000 SCHOOLS - Sixteen foundation stones for the building, which will cost £4,000, were laid. …. It will be recalled that £3,000 was contributed by an anonymous donor, who was revealed later as Mr. Joseph Rank, the Wesleyan millionaire, and a benefactor of many causes in Derby. The schools will complete the church schools' scheme, begun two years ago, which will accommodate 400 children. Mr. A.
