COTTAGE HOUSES – Messrs W G Davies Limited have started work on the biggest private scheme of house building submitted to the corporation under the Housing Act 1933. It contains 576 cottage houses designed by Messrs Roberts, Wood and Elder, for a site off Bank Road, Crumpsall. The houses are to be rented at 11s 3d or 11s 9d a week, and over 400 applications for tenancies were received before the list was closed to allow the agents time to examine them. Part of the land will be used for playing fields. [Manchester Guardian 20 February 1935 page 11].
