Messrs Fairhurst and Holt of Blackburn, Manchester and Liverpool have been awarded the first premium of £50 in the competition for the council schools near Royds Street Accrington and have been entrusted with its erection. It is to accommodate 1,000 scholars and is estimated to cost about £15,000. The second and third premiums (£25 and £10) go to Messrs Shaw, Vowles, Sproat and Clayton of Burnley.
