Corona Super Cinema Moss Road Stretford
The Corona was built by John Maunders for his daughter. Seating 936. The cinema closed in 1951 and was purchased by Metropolitan Vickers who proposed to convert it into a theatre for use by their dramatic society. The proposal failed, the building was demolished and the site has become a car park for the Metro Sports and Social Club.
Mr J Maunders, builder, 85 Darbishire Lane, Stretford, Manchester, who, as announced in our issue for April 19, is proposing to erect a new cinema in Moss Road, Stretford, has had plans prepared by Mr J Knight FRIBA, 5 Cross Street, Manchester, which provide for a building in rustic brick with terra cotta dressings.
