NEW CONSTITUTIONAL HALL FOR DUKINFIELD - On Saturday afternoon the foundation stone of a new hall for the accommodation of the members of the Dukinfield Constitutional Association was laid in Oxford Road, in that town by Mr W C Brooks MP. ... The structure will be built of brick mixed with stone. Its length will be 60 feet and breadth 47 feet. The principal room, the dimensions of which will be 6o feet by 28 feet with a gallery at one end, will accommodate about 400 persons. There will also be a billiard-room, reading room, conversation room and a house for the keeper. The estimated cost is ,850. Messrs Eaton and Son, Ashton, are the architects, and Mr J Crabtree of the same town is the builder. [Manchester Guardian 22 July 1872 page 5]
