Conservative Club Rochdale Road Harpurhey
The new club has a frontage to Rochdale Road and the cost of erection is estimated at £2,500. The building will be built of bricks with stone dressings and ornamental brick bands. The basement floor will comprise a large kitchen fitted up with all the apparatus for cooking; and on the ground floor there will be a large billiard room for four tables, reading room, chess room, bar, porter’s room, baths lavatories, etc. The first floor will contain smoke room, sitting rooms and a large hall capable of seating 450 persons, with stage and ante-rooms. The whole will be warmed and ventilated on the most approved principles. The architect is Mr Edward Beattie of St Mary’s gate and the builder Mr Whitell of Barnes Green, Harpurhey.
