The church of St. Paul, Widnes, was consecrated on Tuesday by the Bishop of Liverpool. The building is faced with grey pressed bricks, ornamented with terracotta, and has cost £8,000. It is cruciform in shape, and in the Early English style. Mr. H. Shelmerdine, of Liverpool, is the architect. Accommodation is provided for 750 worshippers. [Building News 28 January 1887 page 116]
