A NEW CHAPEL FOR HARPURHEY CEMETERY - On Saturday afternoon the Right Rev the Lord Bishop of Manchester laid the first stone of a new chapel for the Harpurhey Cemetery. The chapel, which is to be erected on the consecrated portion of the cemetery will be a neat structure of Pierpoint and stone dressings, 42 feet by 25 feet, capable of accommodating 112 persons, with a tower and spire about 60 feet high and the south-west angle, and is estimated to cost nearly £700. Mr William Newby, Victoria Chambers, Corporation Street is the architect. [Manchester Guardian 13 June 1855 page 5]
