THE PROPOSED CABMEN’S SHELTER FOR WARRINGTON – The plan of the Cabmen’s Shelter proposed to be erected in Horsemarket Street is now on view in the Corporation Street shop window of Messrs W. Woods and Son, jewellers. It has been prepared by Mr William Perry, architect, Sankey Street, at the unanimous request of the Cabmen’s Shelter Committee. Tenders have been invited and there is every reason to believe that the shelter, which is to be erected near the Central Railway Station will be a great boon to the cab and bus men of Warrington. [Warrington Guardian 11 August 1888 page 4]

Tee shelter is fixed in position on the Winwick Street side of the Central Station railway bridge and is certainly a commodious building of its kind, as well as being ornamental and substantial. It reflects great credit on Mr William Perry, the architect, and upon the builders, Messrs J Collin and Son, who have done their work in an excellent manner. [Warrington Guardian 20 October 1888 page 5]

Opened Thursday 25 October 1888 by the Mayor of Warrington as president of the Cabmen’s Association.
