Beechwood was designed by E Bower Norris in October 1922 for Miss Norris, presumably one of his sisters. By this time, he was the sole principal of the firm of Sandy and Norris / Hill Sandy and Norris, architects of Stafford and Manchester, Henry Sandy having died in January 1922.
Next door was a pair of semi-detached houses looking more modern than their 1913 construction. Porches were added in 1919 to the designs of E. Bower Norris then of Didsbury and before he entered into partnership with Sandy. The client for both houses was his father, James Higginbotham Norris, Registrar of Births and Deaths in Manchester.
