CHURCH EXTENSION AT GORTON - Yesterday the Bishop of Manchester consecrated the Church of All Saints, West Gorton., The edifice has been erected, at a cost of about £7,000, by the trustees under the will of the late Mr. Charles F. Beyer (Messrs Beyer and Peacock), Gorton. In addition to the church. there are commodious schools and a parsonage house. Accommodation is provided for 610 worshippers, and the sittings are free and unappropriated. At present the district in which the church is situated forms a portion of the parish of St Mark, but it is intended to constitute a new parish to be called the parish of All Saints. The building has been erected from the designs of Mr. J. R Shaw, architect, St. Chad's, Upper Mill, Saddleworth, by Mr. J. Schofield. builder, Gorton. [Manchester Guardian 25 February 1879 page 5]
