THE ALBERT MEMORIAL CHURCH - The new branch schools in connection with this church which have been erected in Sanderson Street Miles Platting were opened by a soiree on Saturday. The site contains 1,210 square yards. The buildings consist of a mixed school 45 feet by 20 feet; an infants’ school 33 feet by 27 feet; and class room 18 feet by 15 feet; with teacher’s residence adjoining, facing Sanderson Street. There is accommodation for 231 children. The elevations are faced with selected header bricks relieved with bands of different colours. The roofs are open, and of high pitch, with a neat belfry. Separate playgrounds are provided. The buildings have been erected in accordance with the requirements of the Privy Council at a total cost of £1,600. The whole of the works have been erected by Messrs Wade Brothers, builder, Miles Platting, under the superintendence of the architect, Mr Lowe. [Manchester Guardian 4 April 1871 page 6]
