CHAPEL OPENING AT BROOM EDGE - New chapels built, opened, and practically paid for, are not only rare occurrences, but are a distinct sign of advancement. This is the state of affairs at Broom Edge, in the Lymm and Altrincham circuit, where a new church was opened on 25 August. The door was opened at three p.m. by Miss Eleanor Cross, of Broom Edge, in remembrance of her sainted mother, who up to a few months ago hoped to live to see a chapel in this part of Cheshire. The Rev. R. W. B. Whiteway said that nobody was more eligible for the honour of opening the door than a daughter of the family who for many years had been so devoted to our church in Broom Edge. The village is near to High Legh Hall, where Robert Moffat worked a gardener, prior to becoming a missionary. Our people have hitherto worshipped in a rented room. The building is one of the most stately places of worship in village Primitive Methodism. The building is of red brick with stone facings, with a tower in front. The cost is between £600 and £700. Tho architect is Mr. J. D. Mould, of Bury, and the builder Mr. J. B. Holt, of Lymm. [Primitive Methodist Leader 2 September 1909 page 393]

NEW CHAPEL AT BROOMEDGE: OPENING CEREMONY - Primitive Methodists at Broomedge, Lymm, will henceforth be able to worship on their own premises instead of, as they have been doing for years past, on Anglican, for on Wednesday afternoon a new chapel capable of seating 150 persons was opened by Miss Eleanor Cross of Broomedge. The chapel, which cost £600 including a freehold site, is to be used as a school-room as well. The chapel is of ordinary brick and has a tower at the front. There is a main body, ministers' vestry, two lavatories, small gallery and vestibule. There are forms to sit on and on the platform rests the pulpit. There is also an American organ which cost 40 guineas. The windows are of the leaded light type, and the lighting is on the incandescent system. The builder was Mr J. H. Holt of Lymm, and Messrs J. D and S. J. Mould the architects. [Examiner 28 August 1909]
