On the 5th instant, aged 28 years, Mr Thomas Royle, land surveyor of this town. His numerous amiable qualities endeared him to a large circle of friends, by whom his loss will be long and sincerely regretted. His death is attributed to his having slept in a damp bed about a fortnight previous. [Manchester Guardian,12 December 1829 page 4]
