Harold Guy Holt was the son of James Holt, yarn merchant and agent and his wife Emma Jane. By 1901 he and his sister had moved to Bolton, the census return listing them as adopted children of George Wild and his wife, Mary. He was articled to Messrs Cunliffe & Pilling 1900-04. Attended Bolton School of Art, Nottingham University College and School of Art, and Manchester Technical College. Assistant to Messrs Charles Heathcote & Sons, 1905, to Messrs Heazell & Sons, 1905-06, and to Messrs Bradshaw & Gass from 1906. He passed qualifying examination. ARIBA 30 Nov 1908: proposed by J B Gass, H E Heazell, J Pilling.

Harold Holt is isted in the RIBA Kalendar 1911-12 at 74 Thicketford Road, Bolton, but does not appear in subsequent issues of the Kalendar.

Harold Holt visited Gibraltar  on 2 May 1919 and 19 November 1920 (still described as architect)
