An architect about whom little is yet known. Census records for 1901 and 1911 indicate that he was born at Leicester in 1864-5 and had commenced practice in Derby in the late 1880s. He married in 1891 and about 1895 he had moved to Chorley with his young family. Here he practiced until at least 1930, although his known works are few. Charles Edwin Humphries died at the Chorley and District Hospital on 16 March 1943.
