Austin Porritt
Not to be confused with (Col) Austin Townsend Porritt of Ramsbottom
Austin Porritt was the son of Joseph Porritt woollen manufacturer of Bamford near Heywood and his wife Lydia. Joseph is assumed to be related to the Porritt families, manufactures in the Rossendale Valley who delighted in calling their male offspring “Austin.” He was in partnership with J D Mould and S Mould 1900 to 1907 - “ The partnership hitherto subsisting between J D Mould, S J Mould, and A Porritt, architects, etc, Bury, Lancashire, Manchester, and Queen Victoria Street, London, E C, under the style of Moulds and Porritt, has been dissolved.” [Building News 31 May 1907 page 752]. He is recorded as an Architect, residing at Bamford in the 1911 census but is not included in the RIBA Kalendar for 1913.
Austin Porritt married Ethel Peters of Rochdale in 1903
