The son of William Pursglove, draper, and his wife Sarah, Archibald Pursglove was articled to E W Leeson (qv). He then worked variously as an assistant to Simpson and Duckworth (1899-1900); assistant to J W Taylor of Sheffield (1900); assistant to Joseph Holt (1901); assistant to F K Thompson of Bolton (1902-1903); assistant to J M Wilson and Son (1904-1906); assistant to FEW Harris, Co-operative Wholesale Society architects (1907-). He passed qualifying examination and was elected Associate of the RIBA on 2 March 1908, proposed by J H Woodhouse, Isaac Taylor and Paul Ogden. During the First World War he served as sapper in Royal Engineers. By 1931 he had established an office in Mosley Street Manchester, before moving to Oxford Street. His known works are all for the Bury Brewing Company. In 1930 he commenced practice as a chartered quantity surveyor at 79 Mosley Street, Manchester. [RIBA Journal 8 Feb 1930 page 248]
