Alfred Edward Evill was born on 2 March 1862 at Steeple Claydon, Buckinghamshire, the son of the Rev Alfred Evill, and was articled to Basil Champneys in London. About 1900 he commenced practice on his own account in Manchester. In 1905 he joined the Lancashire County Council as an Assistant Architect under Henry Littler, county architect and was responsible for many schools for Lancashire Education Committee. It is assumed that he remained with Lancashire CC until retirement, aged 65, before moving to Church Stretton, Shropshire.
