WIGAN - Mr. John Law Hunter, engineer and surveyor for the borough of Wigan since 1850. died at his residence, Chorley, on the 9th inst. Mr. Hunter was associated with Mr. Rawlinson In the construction of the Wigan reservoirs and sewerage works. He was brought up a pupil in the office of Mr. Stephenson, the railway contractor. WIGAN - The death of Mr. J. L. Hunter, C.E., borough engineer and surveyor of Wigan, is announced. Since his appointment in 1850 a complete system of sewerage has been carried out under his superintendence, and the Wigan waterworks were completed. [Builder 9 September 1876 page 885]
