Primitive Methodist Chapel, Frederick Street, Widnes
CHURCH FOR WIDNES - Yesterday afternoon, at Widnes fourteen foundation stones were laid in connection with a new Primitive Methodist Church. The site is fronting Frederick Street, and the building will be Italian Gothic in style. The material used will be best seconds brick throughout with terra cotta sills. The nave will be square in shape, 49 feet long by 46 feet wide. And there will be seating accommodation for 416, including 43 in the choir. At the Frederick- street end there will be a large three-light window, 23 feet wide, and at the northern angle of the church will be placed the tower, terminating with a low pointed roof. Between the nave and the present school will be a lecture room, 23 feet by 14 feet. The estimated cost is £2,370. …..
