A temporary church of the ‘tin tabernacle’ type was acquired from English Martyrs, Urmston and re-erected here in 1912-13. W T Gunson and Son prepared a scheme for a permanent replacement "of conventional design" in 1932 but this was never executed. Drawings for this unexecuted scheme, dated 1932 are held in the Diocesan Archives.
