CHRISTENING OF ENGINES. HEAP BRIDGE PAPER MILL. On the invitation of Messrs Yates Duxbury and Sons a number of ladies and gentlemen attended at the Heap Bridge Paper Mills on Saturday afternoon for the purpose of witnessing the christening of a pair of new engines which have been placed in the mill by Messrs. C. Walmsley and Co., of Elton. A new engine house been erected from designs by Mr. J. D. Mould, architect, of Silver-street. by Messrs. Thomas and Brierley. One of the engines, was christened "Elsie" by Miss Elsie Duzbury, daughter of Mr. R. D. Mahon; and the other "Kathleen," was christened by Mrs Alexander Duxbury, on behalf of her daughter Kathleen. Both ladies expressed the hope that the engines would have a successful career and be conducive to the prosperity of the firm. After the ceremony the company sat down to dinner in a room in a mill, which had been decanted for the purpose by Mr. W. Hardman, of Rock-street, Bury.
