Drinking Fountain, Kay Gardens, Haymarket Street, Bury

THE FOUNTAIN - The design of the fountain is a very elegant one and the material, being all granite, very durable. It stands on two octagonal shaped axed grey granite steps the lower one being10 feet across each way, there being also two block steps for children. The circular moulded base and basin, the latter being 5 feet 6 inches in diameter, are in red granite and the shaft coming between is of polished grey granite with an enriched ornamental band. The portion above the basin. partly octagonal in shape, is also in polished red granite, with moulded cap. and affixed are three bronze acorn push jets for obtaining the water. Above this are four clustered shafts in polished grey granite, the moulded bases to these being in polished red granite and surmounted by a carved cap in Carrara marble. The terminal stone above the cap is in red granite, moulded and octagonal in shape. The total heigh of the fountain above the steps is 8 feet 10 inches and an inscription round the basin reads "The gift of John Barlow J.P. of Wellfield, 1907” The fountain is being erected by Messrs.
