The former Crofters Hotel stands at the junction of St George’s Road, Chorley New Road, Chorley Old Road and Chorley Street. It was initially licensed at the turn of the 19th century when it was known as the Whitsters Arms. In the 1870s it was acquired by the Manchester Brewery Company before being sold to Bolton Corporation and subsequently to local brewery Magee Marshall & Company.
