Co-operative Drapery Stores, St. George's Road and Bridge Street, Bolton
The new and handsome drapery stores built by the Great and Little Bolton Co-operative Society at the corner of St. George's Road and Bridge Street were formally opened on Saturday afternoon, and the event was signalised by an imposing demonstration. The vehicles and horses - over 50 in number—owned by the Society went in precession through the town and the committee and officials also walked in procession from the Co-operative Hall to the new premises. Here an interested crowd had congregated to witness the opening ceremony, which was performed by the retiring president, Mr W. Lander, who received a handsome silver gilt and enamel key, suitably inscribed, from Mr. J. J. Bradshaw on behalf of Messrs Bradshaw and Gass FRIBA , the architects of the building.
