NEW COTTON MILL - Mr. Herbert Whitley M.P. was yesterday the central in an important function which took place in his constituency of Ashton-undor-Lyne. In the afternoon he cut the first sod on the site of a new spinning mill at Hurst, which is to be known as the Cedar. The factory has been designed Mr. Sidney Stott, Oldham, for the spinning of Egyptian cotton, and the promoters have already under their control five profit-earning mills in the Curzon —which adjoins the site pf the Cedar—the Atlas, the Minerva, the Tudor, and the Rock.
