Stanley Churchill Ramsey was born in Wandsworth, London, on 2 December 1882, the son of Herbert Edward Ramsey, a building and land surveyor, and his wife Eva Catherine. He attended the Haberdashers' Askers Hatcham Boys' School before moving to King's College, London from 1899 to 1902 where he trained as an architect and was a Gold Medallist. He then worked as an assistant to Charles Stanley Peach (1858-1934). He qualified as an architect in 1906 and later that year was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA). From January 1907 to January 1910, he attended the Royal Academy Schools in London. In 1920 he was elected a Fellow of the RIBA.
In 1911 Stanley Davenport Adshead (1868-1946) architect and Professor of Town Planning at Liverpool University. was invited by George V to survey and make proposals for the Duchy of Cornwall Estate in Kennington, London. As a result he took Stanley Churchill Ramsey as a junior partner; it being intended that Ramsey was to maintain continuity in London while Adshead was in Liverpool. According to entries in the RIBA Calendar, they remained partners as Adshead & Ramsey until at least 1936.
After World War 2 Ramsey formed a partnership with Keith Murray (1892-1981) and Charles Stanley White (1893-1966), under the style Ramsey, Murray & White with offices at 32 Wigmore Street, London. In 1955 Basil Ward (1902-1976) joined the partnership, which was renamed Ramsey, Murray, White & Ward. The practice designed numerous industrial and office buildings, including the Hong Kong air terminal and the British European Airways engineering base in London airport.
Stanley Churchill Ramsey died at Rosehaven Nursing Home Ballater, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on 25 December 1968.
