Henry Wyatt was born at Marple, then in Cheshire, the son of Thomas Wyatt, a carpenter, and his wife, Elizabeth Marton (Hyde). For almost all his life he was living at Marple, appearing in the local press variously as architect, surveyor, estate agent valuer and auctioneer. By the time of his wedding in 1880 he was already describing himself as an architect although details of any formal training are not known. The number of his known designs is small.
