Born at Nottingham on 26 August 1887, Charles Button was the son of Alfred William Button, iron turner, and his wife Mary Jane (nee Snaith). By 1901 the family had removed to Bolton.  In 1911 his occupation was recorded as a Building Contractor's Clerk. He served as a soldier in WW1. Partner Wynne Thomas – assumed from 1928-1933
